The Cincinnati Metro Mess
This past Wednesday, at 8:00 p.m., the driver of an empty Metro bus, on the 51 Crosstown route, hit and killed a 73-year old pedestrian, Stephen Frank, at the intersection of Erie Avenue and Edwards Road in Hyde Park.
Frank’s daughter, Emily, 41, walking with her father, was injured and hospitalized.
Frank and his daughter were legally crossing the street in a crosswalk after having ice cream at Graeter’s. The bus driver carelessly mowed them down, taking a life.
The bus driver was Tyrone Patrick, 57. We first started telling you here about this creep Tyrone Patrick back in 2010. The facts we wrote should have alerted Metro, but they ignored the facts and chose to look the other way, allowing him to continue driving. Conversely, as one of his first acts following his appointment on January 16, 2010, the new Cincinnati fire department chief, Richard Braun, was alert enough to terminate Patrick from his ceremonial “job” at the fire department which dated back to previous chief.
Tyrone’s story is long one of a con man and a deadbeat. He found a compatriot in the horrendous fire chief, Cheating Chief Robert Wright. Chief Wright was embroiled in multiple scandals of his own in the fire department, each one more shocking than the other. Wright wasn’t missed after his forced retirement at the end of 2010.
Cheating Chief Wright named Tyrone Patrick, who professes to be a minister, as the ceremonial chaplain of the fire department. He even gave Patrick a plush furnished office near Wright at the administrative headquarters downtown.
On October 31, 2010, Tyrone Patrick was arrested, fittingly, on Halloween night, at Seymour and Paddock roads by Cincinnati police in another pedestrian vehicular incident. He was driving a Nissan Altima, Ohio license plate EPE3657. These plates had expired over two years previously, but Patrick was still driving with those expired plates on his vehicle. Patrick quietly entered a plea of guilty, hoping his employer, Metro would not find out about the court case, case number 75/3757025-5. He needn’t have worried; Metro didn’t care.
At the time, Patrick was also $12,663 delinquent on paying his property taxes on his house at 5608 Goldenrod Drive in Mt. Airy. He had also declared bankruptcy.
When any of his various court cases came up, Tyrone Patrick would cunningly put on a Cincinnati fire department uniform when he appeared in court in the hope the judge would be lenient. Patrick was never a fire fighter.
Patrick took every unfair advantage of his title as chaplain. He’d make unscheduled visits to various fire houses and ask if he could stay for their meal, never offering to pay his share for the food. On a regular basis, he even asked to spend the entire night at various fire houses, sleeping in whatever bed there was. Fire fighters noticed after his stay, some of their food in the kitchen had disappeared with him. Fire fighters described Patrick as “creepy” and most didn’t like him.

The Whistleblower Newswire printed information about Tyrone Patrick several times in 2010. We even mailed the information to Metro. Metro/SORTA supervisors chose to ignore this information. And now a 73-year old father and grandfather is dead because Metro/SORTA chose to keep Tyrone Patrick behind the wheel of an 18 ton city bus.
