Thanking Our Real American Heroes

image005247 Sports says: Margaret Anderson raised her son, Bucky, on Green Bay Packers football.

The two watched games together and eventually, Bucky, transformed from runt to All-District running back at Broadway High School in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in 2003.

Seven years later, Spc. Brian “Bucky” Anderson, was killed in Afghanistan.

Broadway High’s football team has honored the local — and American — hero ever since during the last week of the regular season. One senior is chosen to wear Bucky’s No. 21.

“We wanted to teach kids what true sacrifice was,” Broadway High coach Brad Lutz told The Today Show. “We’ll never repay him for what he gave to this country.”

In partnership with the NFL’s ‘Together We Make Football’ hometown heroes initiative, Lutz surprised Margaret Anderson earlier this season with a special visitor at her home who just happened to be her favorite player.

Brett Favre.

These people represent what’s Right With America.
