To Become Once Again America’s Gun Salesmen Of The Year
At this afternoon’s meeting of the Conservative Agenda, Political Insiders were assessing Obama’s Orchestrated Tearful Gun Control Announcement.
Before the announcement, Obama’s Organizing for Action Group’s e-mail was claiming Obama would be taking bold action to help remedy the gun violence epidemic in our country, blah, blah, blah, by announcing a set of executive actions that will closeloopholes and expand background checks on gun purchases — real steps toward making our communities safer, yada, yada, yada. And Hillary took total credit for Obama’s plan.
After the announcement, reaction from Republican 2016 Presidential Candidates was predictable:
Last Saturday, Donald Trump had already vowed to “unsign” Obama’s plans to tighten gun control via executive action, telling a packed rally in Biloxi, Mississippi, that he would protect their right to bear arms.
And today, at a campaign rally in Iowa today, Sen. Ted Cruz dismissed Obama’s proposals as “not worth the paper they are printed on.”
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, in an op-ed piece in Cedar Rapid’s newspaper, The Gazette, accused Obama of “trampling on the Second Amendment.” In the piece, Bush slammed Obama and Clinton for “[seizing] on every opportunity to advance a gun-grabbing agenda.” Bush vowed to repeal the president’s executive orders “on Day One” if elected.
And Ben Carson argued on Twitter that Obama’s proposal will “regulate” freedom. He also accused the president of using the executive actions as a partisan tool.
Also predictable, at The Hill, Scott Wong and Cristina Marco said Congressional Republicans are scrambling for a way to halt Obama’s new unilateral actions on gun control. One powerful appropriator, Texas Congressman John Culberson has threatened to block federal funding for the Justice Department (DOJ) unless the president’s actions are reversed. But last year, Paul Ryno and Bitch McConnell’s trillion-dollar spending deal already funds DOJ through September, limiting the GOP’s leverage.
Locally, Former Fishwrapper “No-Reportee” Korte was in full swoon with his Liberal Spin in: “Obama announces gun actions in emotional plea for congressional action.” The Blower wonders why Obama needs Congressional action, if he could do it all by himself.
Obama teared up claiming the Gun Lobby was holding America Hostage, and cried while talking about Sandy Hook Victims, putting Boehner to shame, and wiped away a tear every time he finished an applause line. No wonder Conservative Curmudgeon Stu Mahlin wondered if Obama would get an Academy Award for today’s performance.
The NRA critiqued Obama’s Gun Control Speech, saying: “Americans do not need more emotional, condescending lectures that are completely devoid of facts.”
Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. rose to its highest value since 1999 after raising its forecast for gun sales as President Barack Obama is set to announce new restrictions on arms sales.
Meanwhile, on the Mean Streets of Obama’s Divided America, nothing Obama said today would ever keep the Bad Guys from getting all the guns they would ever ever, and all of Obama’s Gun Violence would continue unabated, especially in his home town of Chicago, although DemocRAT-Controlled Cincinnati is trying to do its part, with a robust 28% increase in the number of murders last year.
