Trump’s 851st Day In Office
More Gas Pains
Last week The Blower received more than 427 copies of the same e-mail urging internet readers not to buy gas on May 15 to protest high gas prices, and asking you to forward their e-mail to everybody you knew.
As the beginning of summer quickly approaches, many states will see the usual influx of vacationers and an increase in gas prices. As of Wednesday, the national average price of gas reached $2.88, according to AAA. And with the price of gas about $3-a-gallon in many places, 73,000,000+ Americans currently on the internet network, and the average car taking about $45-60 dollars to fill up, if all users didn’t go to the pump on the Ides of May, it would’ve taken $2,292,000,000. (that’s almost $3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please by not going to the gas station on May 15, it was supposed to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.
Unfortunately, no matter what the sentiment was, that was one the silliest ideas we’d ever heard, simply because besides a few well-meaning listeners of talk radio, nobody was really going to follow through (except maybe that bozo on Salem Road with a crappy cardboard sign in his front yard that says “No Gas on May 15.”
They weren’t telling you “don’t drive” on May 15, which actually would’ve lowered gasoline consumption and conserved fuel. They were just telling you not to “buy it” on May 15, the only effect of which was having people buy their gas the night before or the morning after. It’s the consumption, Stupid! Better all of those Liberal Whackos should’ve stayed home on May 15.
Conservative Curmudgeon Stu Mahlin said this e-mail was merely one more misguided if not deliberately malicious (but populist ) piece of tripe written by someone without the slightest understanding of the oil business and, especially, the effects on prices at the pump wrought by our governments’ (plural possessive) environmental whacko policies and taxes.
