Today’s Good News And Bad News

From Our Local Political Junkie We’ll Call “Cincy Dave”

BAD NEWS FOR HILLARY
image032Although Hillary was hoping the email controversy was over after the FBI report was released, Republicans in congress are not giving up so easily. Even though the FBI considers the matter closed, congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) head of the House Oversight Committee, has announced that he plans to hold at least 2 more hearings about it. Congress is supposed to adjourn on Oct. 1, but that could be extended for so important a matter as going over old ground once again, just to keep the email issue in the headlines. We suspect that most people have made up their minds about it, so it may have the appearance of beating a dead horse more than anything else.

BAD NEWS FOR EVERYONE

Headline says, “Senate Democrats vote to block image039Zika Funding”    This is true, but here’s the fine print.   A Zika funding bill was introduced, and somewhere along the way, Republicans decided to add what is called a “poison pill”, knowing that the Democrats will vote against it.   That way, they can say “so-and-so voted against Zika funding”.  In this case, it was 2 poison pills – a defunding of Planned Parenthood and a clause to allow Confederate flags to fly in Federal Military cemeteries.   Meanwhile nothing gets done, more people will die and thousands of babies may be born with horrible birth defects due to the Zika virus.   That is the way these dirty politicians play with the health of citizens.  The worst part is that you can never find out who added the poison pills to the bill, so you can’t find out who are the dirtiest of all the dirty rats in the house and senate.

HILLARY’S HEALTH

image035As we mentioned before, Hillary suffered a fit of coughing while she was in Cleveland on Labor Day and, as predicted, Fox News and the Right Wing echo chamber started talking non-stop about how bad her health is, using the coughing as proof.  So it was very funny when Newt Gingrich suffered a fit of coughing while talking about Hillary’s coughing on Fox’s Hannity show.   He quickly explained that his throat was dry because he flies a lot.   It probably never dawned on the Newtster that Hillary may do a little bit of flying herself on occasion.

GOOD NEWS FOR TRUMP

Proceedings in a federal lawsuit filed in New York, accusing Donald Trump of repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl over 20 years ago at several Upper East Side parties hosted by convicted sex offender and notorious billionaire image043investor Jeffrey Epstein, have been delayed. According to the court docket, the date of an initial pretrial conference has been pushed back a month, to October 14.  Trump has asserted that the charges referenced in the lawsuit are “not only categorically false, but disgusting at the highest level and clearly framed to solicit media attention or, perhaps, are simply politically motivated,” adding that “There is absolutely no merit to these allegations. Period.”   Expect the proceedings to be further delayed, at least until after Nov. 8.

PRE-DEBATE WARM-UP

Tonight is the big dual interview of The Donald and Hillary on TV, (8 – 9 PM on NBC) called the Commander-in-Chief Forum, which is being billed as a preview of the debates.   It will be fun to see how both candidates avoid answering the questions.

image024PHYLLIS SCHLAFLY

There is no truth to the rumor that the notorious anti-women’s rights crusader Phyllis Schlafly said, “there will be a woman president over my dead body,” according to multiple fact-checking organizations.   However, the line is already forming  for women whose opportunities were stifled back in the ‘70s and ‘80s to spit on her grave.  The old hag was a strong anti-gay bigot too, but we haven’t heard whether or not her gay son will join the line.

MEANINGLESS POLLS

Although many, if not most, polls are meaningless, we are getting to the point in the campaign where they do start to have a little bit of credibility, especially when looked at as a group, rather than individually.   91 state polls were released yesterday by multiple pollsters.  One of them, Survey Monkey, polled all 50 states.   The bottom line is that Hillary is ahead in all the states won by Barack Obama in 2012, plus North Carolina.  Another way to put it is that Hillary is ahead in every state won by Barack Obama in 2008, minus Indiana.  Without something big happening such as a Hillary melt-down in the debates or a devastating Wikileaks dump, things are looking bad for the Trumpster.  Maybe the KGB cyber division will come to his rescue.
