News has leaked out about a plan to merge Anderson and Turpin high schools on the Bartels Road campus.
The uproar is just starting over the possible changes. And boy, will there be an uproar.
Status quo is important to a lot of people in Forest Hills. One could believe that this area is a settlement of Ned Ludd’s descendants. Attempts to make changes meet destructive opposition. We could cite several of those events.
What we will report is that the status quo is very different from what those people think.
The status quo has been carefully hidden in decline.
Another characteristic of the community is the need to save face. The Emperor With No Clothes syndrome.
We point out regularly the state of Forest Hills finances. They are in the red and getting redder.
One way out is a massive increase in taxes. The dreaded “Operating Levy.” That well may have run dry.
Anderson sits on commercially valuable property. Redeveloped it becomes a source for property taxes. An alternative to a levy. It also becomes potential re-vitalization for the area as a whole
The kids will be fine either way although there will be the weeping and gnashing of teeth by the Luddites to the contrary.
In any case, change seems to be in the air. The truth to be revealed.
Thus, Anderson Apocalypse.
Not only that, the Apocalypse continues to wonder if our Leftist Forest Hills School Board Member has yet learned how to Practice the Proper Patriotic Posture during the Pledge of Allegiance.
