Wenstrup’s Name Remains On The Official Voting Guide

Last night, as reported in The Blower’s “Clermont Crony Caucus” E-dition, the Clermont County Republican Party Central Committee met in Batavia to hold a vote to consider yanking the party’s endorsement of Ohio Second District Congressman “Bronze Star Brad” Wenstrup for re-election. Like all things people try to keep hidden, The Blower was there to expose it all.

The entire event was a picture of chaos with people standing around all over downtown Batavia confused about what was happening and where they were supposed to be.  More than 100 members of the County’s Central Committee gathered at the GOP headquarters in Batavia, but Party leaders forgot that the fire code did not allow them to have that many people in the building at one time.

This is the reason the Party usually meets at the Holiday Inn in Eastgate for large endorsement votes. But in order to avoid the cost of renting the Holiday Inn, the Party decided to have “drive-by voting,” where members would walk in one door, cast their vote, and then immediately leave. 

Members of the Committee were complaining that this allowed for no discussion or debate which had been promised to take place at last night’s meeting.  The real story is that the takeover of the Party by TEA Party activists has caused the Party’s financial coffers to dry up. The days of the elected officials across the County bankrolling Party operations are over, because they all fear being challenged by the TEA Party.  As a result, the Party has very little money to use for things like renting space to meet and sending out sample ballots.

In front of the building there was at least one protester carrying an anti-Wenstrup sign who was arguing with one of “Bronze Star Brad’s” minions. In the good ole days of “Mean Jean” Schmidt, she would have dispatched her flying monkeys to clean up the riff raff on the sidewalk.  Speaking of the Lying former Congresswoman, she was spotted voting inside.  We can only wonder how much she must have enjoyed watching him squirm under the thumb of the same TEA Party that orchestrated her departure from office in favor of “Bronze Star.”

The final vote came down to 58 against UN-endorsing “Bronze Star” and 57 in favor of UN-endorsing “Bronze Star.” In the spirit of Hillary Clinton, one might say it came down to a coin toss.  As everyone else is running from the Establishment, “Bronze Star Brad” seems to be running into their arms to save him from being tossed out by the more Conservative members of the Clermont County Republican Party.
