NEARLY TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY…
Edition #36 (published on February 5, 1991) of the original printed edition of The Whistleblower (not the Newswire) was delivered to Persons of Consequence all over town. That Week’s “Really Big Story” was all about how “CNN Admitted Pirating WLW” during the Gulf War. The Top Ten List was the Top Ten Ways to make military briefings from Riyadh more exciting, Ken Blackwell reporting from Geneva, and how some of our local folks fared in the Saddam Hussein look-a-like contest.
There was a Real Editorial by Whistleblower Publisher Charles Foster Kane (before he became “Beloved”), more “Real Facts,” and our roving reporter at the Home and Garden Show asked people what they thought about the War in The Gulf.
And we took “Cheap Shots” at Lee Etta Powell, Jim Cissell, Tyrone Yates, and columnist David Wecker; and “Another Real Guest Editorial by Bunky Tadwell.” We Featured “Real Letters From Real Readers” and “Another Exclusive Whistleblower Report written by someone whose name you might know.”
Page Five Featured Bluegrass Holler by Ken CamBoo, Frankfort Follies by Ernest P. Worrell, and Phil Samp bombing at Music Hall.
And on Page Six, we featured “Up Your Image” by Jerry Galvin using somebody else’s name, and update from the Property Tax Advisory Board, the Iraqi Song, sung to the music of The Beverly Hillbillies, and a Whistleblower Testimonial Ad by a celebrity.
