Today We Honor Fallen Cincinnati Police Officer Sonny Kim

image004Kim’s name was among those added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington on Friday during National Police Week.

Yesterday, law enforcement officials and their families gathered on the National Mall to pay tribute to officers who lost their lives in the line of duty last year. The group included Kim’s family, who traveled to the nation’s capital take part in a national ceremony for fallen police officers.

A 27-year veteran of the Cincinnati Police Department serving at District 2 at the time of his death, Kim was responding to a 911 call in Madisonville last June when he came under fire and was killed.

Kim had immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1973. He was a well-respected officer who earned praise in 2012 from the U.S. Department of Justice for his service. Kim was the 98th Cincinnati police officer to die in the line of duty — the first since 2000.

God Bless Officer Kim and God Save Cincinnati and the United States of America!
