Fighting to Bring the Community Together

image004A recent sob story in the Liberal Agenda Fishwrap told us a recent Urban League Study found 74% of African-American children under age of six have been growing up in poverty in Cincinnati and the Urban League says these numbers are a big sign something has to change. At least officials at the Wesley Education Center said that organization was trying to help one family at a time.

Earlier this month, Oxford Republican State Reptile Tim Derickson announced his Ohio House Community and Family Advancement Committee would be holding a hearing at Cincinnati’s CityLink Center in the city’s West End to examine the impact of poverty on families and look for ways to improve the quality of life for struggling Ohioans.

Another story complained that in 1995, 15.8% of Black people living in Greater Cincinnati were unemployed, and twenty years later, that number is now around 17.1% and the poverty rate for Blacks has also headed in the wrong direction – 34% to 35.7% today.

image006So how did we help all those undernourished Black children living in poverty last weekend? Leave it to folks at the Sanctuary for Stupidity to come up with a brilliant idea. Cincinnati’s newly appointed Commissioner of Fun Frank Wood saw where organizers of Saturday’s Incline District street fair were asking for donated canned food items to benefit the Holy Family Parish Food Pantry.

image006And what better way would there be to benefit little Black children living in poverty in Cincinnati than to show a few White people on TV at the Price Hill Recreation Center waste 4,000 tomatoes in a Food Fight called “La Tomatina,” which sounds like a Spanish word meaning “wasting tomatoes.” Oh, the Diversity of It All.

image006 image006It must’ve been a great idea. Cincinnati’s Diminutive DemocRAT Mayor John Cranley, City Mangler “Baltimore Harry” Black, and Republican Clown-cilwoman Amy Murray all took part.

image006At least Cincinnati’s Current Affirmative Action Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell didn’t ask for police officers on overtime to stand there and let angry citizens throw tomatoes at them. What a stupid way to waste food that could’ve been used to feed hungry little Black children living in poverty in Cincinnati.
