Political Campaigns May Never Be The Same

image005image005The 2016 Republican Presidential Campaign really got started last Monday at the Voters First Forum. 14 of the 17 Republican presidential candidates tried to test their messages in a Trump-free zone in New Hampshire before Thursday night’s all-important, make-or-break First Official 2016 Republican Presidential Candidates Debates in Cleveland on Thursday.

But from what we witnessed in New Hampshire, The Blower learned that what people would see in Cleveland (if they’re even bothering to watch) would not be a “debate.”

image007At best, the media circus put on by the Republican National Committee would be a Joint Press Conference among the top ten announced Republican Presidential Candidates (Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and John Kasich) with FOX TV’s Brett Baier, Megyn Kelly, and Chris Wallace asking a bunch of questions.

That event would be proceeded by another “Joint Press Conference” for Rick Perry and six other major declared candidates (Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, George Pataki, and Jim Gilmore) at a Not Ready For Prime Time Event on FOX TV earlier in the evening.

image005image009The Blower sent out a Hype Alert on Thursday, saying Lincoln and Douglas would be spinning in their graves because they could hardly believe that evening’s event was still being called a “Debate,” although FOX NEWS’ American President Game Show did turn out to be the most watched non-sports event ever broadcast on cable TV.

image005By Friday, The Blower said there needed to be a better way to organize the so-called “debates” so voters could really learn something about the candidates, because what the Republican Party now has is a real failure to communicate. Their candidates deserved a chance to express their points of view with more than sixty seconds on the clock. That’s when The Blower began again calling for the Republican National Committee to build a real debate schedule around a hypothetical tournament bracket so Voters could hear where the candidates really stood on the issues.

The world would little note nor long remember what any of the other candidates said Thursday night, but everybody would be talking about Donald Trump’s insult to Fox News Babe Megyn Kelley for days, and soon the entire political universe would be consumed by it.

image005image010Donald Trump was disinvited to the RedState Gathering on Saturday, but Trump won again when he dominated Sunday’s Political TV Talk Shows.

image005So what all of these people in politics and the media don’t seem to understand is that Donald Trump is not running for President as a Politician. He’s running as a Celebrity. He’s not playing by their rules. Trump rules by playing by Trump’s rules. He’s picking fights with everybody, and all the dummies are responding.

image005Even before Thursday’s broadcast, The Blower had figured out that what we would all be watching Thursday night would not be a “Political Event,” it would really be a made-for-TV be an “Entertainment Event.” And and The Blower hoped we’d all see something like Marlee Matlin and Gilbert Gottfried Roasting Donald Trump at on Comedy Central.

image005image013WND reported Comic legend Jackie Mason satirized the tendency of the news media, opinion makers and the general public to focus more on the delivery and presentation of remarks than on the actual policies presented at presidential debates.

“If these debates were held fifty years ago, Groucho Marx would have been the president,” Mason quipped during a radio interview Sunday.

Responding to last week’s Republican primary debate, Mason stated: “You know in these debates, a good joke goes a lot further than a good idea. You can have the most brilliant ideas in the world but nobody will remember it. You know what they remember? Who told the best one-liner. Who came up with the best joke.”image016image020
