How Many Times Do You Think You’ll Hear The Word “Debate” Today?

image004In yesterday’s “Presidential Debate Forecast” E-dition, The Blower tried to explain why tonight’s televised “Joint Press Conference” among the top ten announced Republican Presidential Candidates at 9 PM should not be called a “Debate.” At best, we tried to explain, the media circus put on by the Republican National Committee would only be a group of candidates on a stage with FOX TV’s Brett Baier, Megyn Kelly, and Chris Wallace asking them a bunch of questions.

image005Mere moments after we posted that e-dition, Ohio First District Congressman Steve Chabothead sent us a copy of his weekly blog titled—you guessed it—“The Debate.” [HERE’S THE EVIDENCE]

Steve must’ve used the word “Debate” 112 times in that blog entry. We asked one our summer interns to count the exact number of occasions, and she’s still counting.

Steve, of course, didn’t have a clue about what was going to happen at tonight’s “Debate,” but he did at least list the names of all the candidates (Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and John Kasich), and predicted it would be a very important event.

The Old Chabothead was right about one thing, however: “Any of the 17 would make a heck of a lot better president than Hillary, or Bernie Sanders, or Joe Biden, or any of the other DemocRATS seeking the office of the presidency.  After all, our country can’t afford, in effect, a third Obama term.”

Steve also included pictures of Donald Trump and a few of the other Republican Candidates running for President in 2016, including this out-of-focus selfie with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and a handshake photo with Dr. Ben Carson.

Our Elected Officials can be so shameless, sometimes, even the ones we like.

image005Meanwhile, we’ll have more West Side Wisdom when 1983 Elder High School grad Bill Hemmer moderates the “Not Ready for Prime Time” Debate at 5 PM on the Fox News Channel, which Chabot called “Happy Hour Debate” that would include Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, Jim Gilmore and George Pataki.  You can record that on your DVR if you’re going out for dinner tonight.
