This Sunday in America…
…at the Church of The Compassionate Conservative, Beloved Whistleblower Publisher, the Right-Wing Reverend Charles Foster Kane was asking his Political Parishioners to Pray for Plumbing because of all the Leaks in Washington these days, especially after Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions went on the attack against leaks on Friday, warning of a possible crackdown both on reporters and their sources inside the federal government.
The Washington Post says, “One of the things we are doing is reviewing policies affecting media subpoenas,” Sessions told reporters as he announced administration efforts to battle what he called a “staggering number of leaks undermining the ability of our government to protect this country.”
“We respect the important role that the press plays and will give them respect, but it is not unlimited,” the nation’s top law official said.
Sessions said Friday that the Justice Department has more than tripled the number of leak investigations compared with the number that were ongoing at the end of the last administration, highlighting the department’s efforts to crack down on unauthorized disclosures of sensitive information, some of which have resulted in negative media stories about Trump.
“After many years of LEAKS going on in Washington, it is great to see the A.G. taking action! For National Security, the tougher the better!” Trump wrote Saturday night.
The announcement seemed designed in part to reassure Trump, who had recently criticized Sessions as being “weak” on leak investigations.
