AND THE NEW COMBINED SCHOOL NAME COULD BE “HALLOWEEN HIGH”

With Halloween coming up, our equestrian analyst Dr. Irving Dullahan’s favorite holiday, we pressed him a little more on the Forest Hills’ financial predicament.

“Well,” he said, “in the apocalyptic context the school board was led by a group of headless horsemen wearing Anderson High School Colors.

“To quote the words written in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”: ‘A drowsy, dreamy influence seems to hang over the land, and to pervade the very atmosphere.’ That seems to describe the voters who mindlessly approved the levies put forth by the headless leaders, as well as electing those leaders in the first place. Unless the spell that leads to such outcomes is broken it seems that nothing can change.

“Evaluating past voter actions and the propensity to maintain the status quo, one must conclude the school district is doomed.”

Dr. Dullahan continued while smiling at his own pun, “In the spirit of the holidays let us extend our view of this situation. Perhaps Forest Hills is being visited by their own Marley’s ghost. Chained by past greed and selfishness, as is Forest Hills, the voters are being visited by the ghosts of the past, the present, and the future in an attempt to change their ways.”

“In this seasonal picture, the Forest Hills Halloween may see only tricks because there will be no treats. Coal in the stockings for Christmas unless intervened upon by an unexpectedly cornucopious Thanksgiving. We doubt that the spirit of the scorned Redskin will allow that.”

And so, we sent forth Dr. Dullahan with a bag of Reese’s Cups for sharing his astute observations. Leaving us to ponder.
