Today’s Real American Hero Is Army Corporal Kevin Long

Son of Lee and Sherry Long of New Richmond, Kevin is being promoted to Sergeant Monday afternoon in a ceremony officiated by Ohio Second District Colonel/ Congressman Brad Wenstrup in Fort Myer, Virginia, after exhibiting remarkable leadership, recommended by his superiors.

Corporal Long’s 4 1/2 years in service included a nine month tour doing combat operations with the 101st Airborne Division out of Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

Now stationed at Fort Myer, Virginia with H Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard),

Corporal Long participates in memorial affairs, ceremonial support, and defense of the Capitol, including burials at Arlington and other ceremonial duties such as wreath-layings at the Tomb of the Unknowns, as well as welcoming ceremonies for foreign dignitaries, along with marching in President Trump’s Inauguration on January 20.
