Today’s Good News And Bad News
From Our Local Political Junkie We’ll Call “Cincy Dave”

Special Happy Meal Edition – Wine, Dine and Sixty-Nine – Only 69 Days To Go!

PRIMARY WINNERS YESTERDAY
image007Debbie Wasserman Schultz – Florida congresswoman, former DNC Chair who was ousted for favoring Hillary during primaries. General Election victory is assured.
Marco Rubio – Florida Senator, derisively called “Little Marco” by Trump and who later said that Trump had little hands and “you know what they say about guys with little hands.”
John McCain – Not a War Hero, according to The Donald, but still a reluctant Trump supporter who turned 80 a couple of days ago. You have to feel sorry for the old man – smeared by Karl Rove and W. Bush in 2000, beaten badly by a mere community organizer in 2008, military service demeaned by a draft dodger in 2015, but he keeps coming back for more abuse. Ain’t politics great?

BAD NEWS FOR HILLARY
image008The FBI will publicly release the Hillary email investigation report to the Justice Department, possibly as early as today. They will also release their investigative notes. To the delight of Republican Muckrakers, 30 of the documents are about Benghazi, so they will be going wild digging through everything, trying to find the elusive smoking gun. Hillary claims that she wanted everything released, but very few people believe that one.

BAD NEWS FOR TRUMP
Foreign Models say they worked illegally for Trump. This doesn’t look good for a politician who built his whole campaign on stopping Illegal immigrants and bringing jobs back to Americans. Also, it will remind some voters of the story about Melania Trump working here illegally as a model while on a business or tourist visa.

MORE BAD NEWS FOR TRUMP
Trump’s favorite Judge, Gonzalo Curiel, the Mexican-American that Trump made so much noise about, has ruled that the fraud case against Trump University can proceed. Trump’s lawyers have argued that the false claims made by Trump University to recruit students were merely advertising puffery, a normal business practice. Luckily, or probably intentionally, the Judge set a trial date for Nov. 20, so it won’t be front page news during the campaign. There is another case against Trump that alleges racketeering in connection with Trump University. The consumer fraud case is named Low v. Trump University, but we are wondering which one is the Low.

TRUMP MEETING
Trump is supposed to meet in Mexico with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, ahead of his immigration speech. We don’t know what they will talk about but we can suggest some topics, like “can you please stop sending only murderers and rapists?”, and “do you want to pay for the wall in a lump sum or with time payments?” Also, “how many trainloads or planeloads of deportees can you handle per day?” Sure wish we could be a fly on the wall.

ILLINIOIS SHUTS DOWN VOTER REGISTRATION SYSTEM
Following the discovery that Russian hackers image004had penetrated their voter registration computer system, Illinois shut it down. The Russians may have just been looking for Hillary’s lost e-mails, as Trump suggested, or were they trying to help him Illinois may have to go back to pencil and paper everything for November.

RACIST CARTOON?
Pastor Mark Burns, an advisor to Trump, says he fails to see the racism in the cartoon he drew of Hillary in blackface. However, he regrets posting it on-line. Burns is a frequent warm-up act for The Donald, and is supposed to be helping him in his outreach to minorities. We’re sure this is going to help a lot.

TODAY’S MEANINGLESS POLL
Pennsylvania is called a swing state but it has voted for the Democrat candidate the last six times. Trump’s chances there are slim.image005
