Today’s Good News And Bad News
From Our Local Political Junkie We’ll Call “Cincy Dave”
BAD NEWS FOR HILLARY
House Republicans have demanded the FBI files related to Hillary’s email investigation in an effort to have her indicted for perjury. The FBI has promised cooperation but we expect a lot of foot-dragging. It remains to be seen if they can foot-drag all the way to election day. If they do give up the files to congress, it is hard to see how congress can force an indictment from the Obama Justice Department. The result may just be that the email controversy and her “short-circuits” (lies) stay in the headlines, at least on Fox News and right-wing talk radio from now until election day. Even then, if the Republicans can maintain a majority in the House, they may attempt an impeachment if she is elected. Any impeachment would result in an acquittal by the senate, but they might try it anyway just for spite. One Republican member of congress said well over a year ago that if she is elected, he will introduce a bill of impeachment on inauguration day or the day after.
ROGER AILES IS ADVISING TRUMP
The serial sexual harasser who was booted from Fox News is advising the Trump campaign, according to reliable reports. However, the Trump campaign is denying that Ailes has any official position in the campaign. Official or not, it doesn’t look good to be associated with an ogre like Ailes. Best guess is that Ailes is helping Trump with debate prep, probably feeding him stories about Hillary from the Fox News rumor mill.
PAUL MANAFORT DEMOTED
In a Trump Campaign shakeup, Campaign Chairman, Paul Manafort was demoted to Chief Strategist. This is possibly a result of news that he is under investigation in Ukraine and faces questions about his status here as an agent of a foreign government. We are still waiting to see if he will be forced out altogether.
TRUMP VIDEO DEPOSITION
After two restaurateurs backed out of a deal to open restaurants at a Trump property because of Trump’s anti-immigrant statements, Trump sued them. A video of Trump being deposed in this lawsuit may soon be available to the media. If so, it will be very interesting to see what he had to say about immigrants. They surely asked him about all of his past statements on this subject and maybe others. Since he would have been under oath, answers may vary from his public statements.
TRUMP DENIED VISA?
Trump flunks his own extreme vetting test. – A great piece of satire by Jenifer Rubin, author of the conservative column, “Right Turn.”
SHE’S REALLY BAAAACK
Elizabeth Perry, AKA Liz Cheney, won her primary in Wyoming and will therefore be the new congresswoman from Wyoming in this heavily Republican state. As she begins her climb through the Republican party ranks, her natural charm and resemblance to her father will help voters in other states choose which party they want to associate with.
TODAY’S MEANINGLESS POLLS
Swing states are looking grim for Trump. Texas, the second largest state, will be little comfort if Hillary wins all the other largest states like CA, NY, FL, PA, ILL…
