Local Snowflake Training Now Being Offered
In Last Night’s “Wednesday’s Wild Cards” E-dition, The Blower reported the story about how the president of Emory University had spoken to some really stupid demonstrators who couldn’t stop whining about how frightened they were after someone wrote “Trump 2016” in chalk around campus. Students at the Atlanta school, claimed their “safe space” had been violated when the messages appeared on sidewalks and buildings.
Jim Wagner, president of the Atlanta university, wrote Tuesday that the students viewed the messages as intimidation, and they voiced ‘genuine concern and pain’ as a result. He acted after student government wrote to him and slammed the university’s response, prompting a meeting that led to protests. Now administrators want to track down those responsible for the controversial markings. But some commentators on the university’s student newspaper website told the students to grow up and accused them of being whiny little shits.
Meanwhile, word is a local school (whose name you might know) is now pressuring Faculty and Staff to participate in Snowflake Training 101, which claims to increase the visible presence of students, staff, and faculty who can help to shape a campus culture that is accepting of all people regardless of sexuality, gender identification/expression, or any other difference. Training topics and exercises include: becoming comfortable discussing sexuality and gender identifications, the importance of inclusive language, creating safe spaces and how to be a supportive advocate and ally for LGBTQ social justice and equality. And you thought those Black Lives Really, Really Matter Activists were totally full of crap.
