NEARLY TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY…

image004Edition #42 (published on March 19, 1991) of the original printed edition of The Whistleblower (not the Newswire) was delivered to Persons of Consequence all over town. That Week’s “Really Big Story” was all about Landslide Charlie Luken’s run for President. The Top Ten List was the top ten reasons Landslide Charlie Luken should run for president in 1992, and a story about how 55 WKRC was standing by its report that General Norman Schwartzkopf would be throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day for The Reds.

There was a Real Editorial by Whistleblower Publisher Charles Foster Kane (before he became “Beloved”), and more “Real Facts” that included the investigative reports abput Guy Guckenberger, “JayWalking Joe” Deters, Jerry Galvin, and Steve Chabothead, when he was a lowly Hamilton County Commissioner.image009
 And we took “Cheap Shots” at Jerry Thomas, Charles Hughes, George Blake; and a public disservice message for our Homosexual Hotline, along with “Another Real Guest Editorial by Bunky Tadwell.”image011

 We Also Featured “Real Letters From Real Readers,” “Another Exclusive Whistleblower Report” about Ohio Governor Voinovich’s message to local arts groups.image013

 Page Five Featured Bluegrass Holler by Ken CamBoo, a Column by then Northern Kentucky Bureau Chief J.R. Hatfield explain why The Whistleblower has the need for a Northern Kentucky Bureau, and an update on Newport ex-Mayor Johnny “TV” Peluso’s meritless lawsuit.image015 And on Page Six, we featured Jerkwater Journalism by George Flake, Separated at Birth, Quayle Droppings, and Real Gossip by Linda Libel.image017

It’s really hard to believe how good The Whistleblower was in those days.
