Another Hero Claims He’s “Not A Hero”
PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest American Hero, 23-year-old Staff Sgt. Spencer Stone, has had quite the year. From saving 554 people aboard a Paris-bound train from a suspected terrorist attack in August to sustaining multiple stab wounds after coming to the defense of a woman who was assaulted in October, Stone made headlines in 2015 for all the right reasons – and the hunky hero has managed to remain strikingly humble throughout.
“You’re never going to catch me calling myself a hero unless I’m joking,” Stone, of Sacramento, California, tells PEOPLE. “There are a ton of people doing great things everyday and you don’t hear about it!”
And although he may not see it, the rest of the world recognizes Staff Sgt. Stone as a tried-and-true American hero. That’s why today, The Blower says a Hero’s “First Qualification” would be not seeing himself as a Hero.
