Other Important Events That Happened On This Date
HURLEY THE HISTORIAN says on this date in 1945 Japan surrendered to end WWII in the Pacific and our Victory over Japan was celebrated as “VJ Day.” A thirteen years ago, smoochers Carl Muscarello and Edith Shain on Times Square in NYC were reunited for the most famous kiss in History. “It was a long kiss,” recalled Shain, 86, a nurse then and a great-grandmother of six. “It lasted between six and eight seconds.”
Instead of VJ Day, Disgraced Ex Pants-Dropper-in-Chief used to call it “BJ Day,” but that was just like any other day in the Oval Office. Yesterday, The New York Times blasted the Clinton Foundation. This could pose a few problems for Bill and Hillary.
AND OUR QUOTE FOR TODAY COMMITTEE chose Harry S. Truman’s, “The atom bomb was no “great decision.” It was merely another powerful weapon in the arsenal of righteousness.”
WHISTLEBLOWER SUMMER INTERNS Rachel, Bradley, Ashley, and Hunter know how Our Beloved Publisher Charles Foster Kane likes to see his name in print, and thought it would be amusing to show you this story in our August 13, 1991 Edition, where Kane was scheduled to appear at the meeting of the Society of Professional Journalists exactly 27 years ago this week.
The Blower remembers three years ago when Hall of Fame Cartoonist and Illustrator Jerry Dowling reminded his readers about the time The Blower stole our “Mr. Whistle” logo from him. He let us do it because we ripped Enquirer executives almost every day. We even mentioned fat slob news editor Jim “Orca” Smith going across the street repeatedly to bring back double deck hamburgers all night long. That got The Whistleblower banned from the Enquirer newsroom. Now, The Blower is online and Feckless Fishwrappers can see new stories posted several times a day. You can see it here every day.
These days Jerry Dowling is still drawing award-winning caricatures of some famous people. Last year, The Blower really liked some of the 2016 Republican candidates for President like Donald Trump and Delusional Ohio Governor John Kasich. Obviously, Jerry Dowling’s caricatures are some of the best you’ll ever see.
FINALLY, AT YESTERDAY’S MEETING OF THE CONSERVATIVE AGENDA, Political Insiders were asking Beloved Whistleblower Publisher Charles Foster Kane why President Trump was still getting all that undeserved criticism for “not going far enough,” even after he declared racism “evil” and assailed the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis and other white nationalists for promoting bigotry and violence. “We predicted it,” Kane explained. “It didn’t take long for the Trump Haters. FAKE NEWS CNN lambasted Trump for his New Charlottesville Remarks; MSNBC said Trump’s Remarks “Didn’t Do Enough,” setting the “Lowest Possible Bar”; and The New Republic called Trump “Our First Neo-Nazi President.”
Mike Huckabee obviously agrees. The former Arkansas Governor says President Trump is being criticized too harshly for his refusal to single out white supremacists in a statement denouncing violence at a rally Saturday in Charlottesville, Va. Huckabee said on “Fox and Friends” Sunday a lot of the criticism comes from the left and people who still can’t accept that Trump is president. He added Trump was clear in condemning the violence on Saturday.
“If Donald Trump suddenly jumped on Marine One … down to Charlottesville, walked into the jail where the young man was being held, shot him between the eyes, I guarantee you people said he didn’t use the right caliber bullet,” Huckabee said. He added some people “cannot get over the fact he is president.” Trump was “explicitly clear in condemning what happened and the fact was he will never satisfy those who hate his every word,” Huckabee said.
