Trump’s 1206th Day In Office
With Still None Of Obama And His Political Perps In The Slammer
It’s Almost National Limerick Day 2020, Everybody
Hurley the Historian says tomorrow will be all about word play and rhymes to celebrate the 208th birthday of English artist and writer Edward Lear. Lear, who was born in 1812, was all about a bit of fun and wrote his “Book of Nonsense” of 72 limericks in 1846 with exactly that in mind. The book was a huge success, not only making the author popular, but also boosting the limerick into popular culture across the world.
Our Quote for Today Committee says amazingly, there are not a lot of great quotes about limericks. We couldn’t find where Ronald Reagan said something about limericks, but we found a long one about him, and you can read that HERE.
All of our Persons of Consequence must know how much Beloved Whistleblower Publisher Charles Foster Kane likes limericks, since The Blower has been publishing the Weekly Whistleblower Limerick Contest in every Friday E-dition since 1990. Perturbed in Park Hills likes Limericks too, along with “Political Sonnets,” a new art form which he appears to have invented.
Ohio State Rep John Becker (the Pecker Checker) now wonders what kind of limericks Edward Lear would be writing about the important subjects of today, probably something like:
An old gender bender from Rangoon
Met Caitlyn Jenner in a ladies room
But they started to fight,
And it lasted all night,
About who could do what and to whom.
