ABC, NBC IGNORE FEDS CENSORING ORLANDO SHOOTER’S ISIS ALLEGIANCE
Despite swirling controversy over the Obama Justice Department’s decision to censor 911 transcripts of Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen pledging allegiance to ISIS during his shooting rampage, on Monday, ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today avoided any mention of the glaring omission. Only CBS This Morning actually pointed out the censorship, as correspondent Jeff Pegues revealed: “The transcript will include redactions, including his pledge to ISIS.”

WILLIAMS: ‘I DON’T GET THE EXCITEMENT’ OVER CENSORING SHOOTER’S ISIS LINKS
MSNBC journalists on Monday responded with a shrug to the announcement that the FBI would release the uncensored transcripts the Orlando killer’s 911 calls (after initially redacting parts). NBC justice correspondent Pete Williams could not figure out what the big deal was: “I must say, I don’t get the excitement about all of this because we already knew what was in the redactions.”

3 OF 4 SUNDAY SHOWS IGNORE CIA’S ‘STUNNING’ CONTRADICTION OF OBAMA
Out of the four broadcast news Sunday political shows, only Fox News Sunday covered Obama CIA Director John Brennan directly contradicting the President’s optimistic assessment of the war against ISIS. Both CBS’s Face the Nation and ABC’s This Week mentioned the CIA director’s grim report, but failed to mention that it contradicted President Obama. NBC’s Meet the Press didn’t mention Brennan’s statement at all.

CNN’S SCIUTTO WONDERS IF GUN CONTROL IS IN ‘SWEET SPOT’ AFTER ORLANDO
CNN’s Jim Sciutto clearly slanted towards gun control advocates during an interview of Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar on Monday’s New Day. Sciutto contended, “You’d have to think that this would be the…political sweet spot on the gun issue…whetting everyone’s fear — both parties…want to keep guns out of terrorists’ hands.” He also underlined, “…if not now, then when? When is something going to get it through?”

NETWORKS WHINE OVER SENATE GUN-CONTROL VOTES ‘GOING NOWHERE’
The Senate voted on four gun-control proposals Monday evening, two from Democrats and two from Republicans, but all of them failed to pass. Even though the result was predicted in advance, all of the networks were disgruntled by the outcome. “The problem is that Democrats and Republicans have two different solutions to the problem, and they’re half-hearted attempts at compromise have simply gone nowhere,” moaned Nancy Cordes on CBS Evening News.

The vicissitudes of election coverage over the past year have made one thing certain: Morning Joe has been on an emotional rollercoaster with Republican nominee Donald Trump. In late 2015 and early 2016, Trump was regularly featured on the show and praised for his unprecedented primary performance. Now, as Trump’s favorability plummets in the polls, so too does his favorability among the Morning Joe hosts.

ON NBC, BLAKE LIVELY BLAMES GLOBAL WARMING FOR SHARK ATTACK IN MOVIE
Appearing on the Today show, Monday, to promote her new shark movie, actress Blake Lively implied that the reason her character is in peril is global warming. Talking to Savannah Guthrie about The Shallows, she asserted, “Because of global warming, sharks are pushed closer to shore. And she’s attacked and you think of a shark attack being in the deep ocean, but it’s almost scarier when shore is right there.”
