Drowns Out Pope’s Traditional Marriage Message
NEW YORK (AP) — Freedom of religion isn’t reason enough to deny any American their constitutional rights, President Barack Obama said Sunday as he addressed members of the LGBT community, one of his major sources of political and financial support.
Sunday night, before Anti-Same Sex Marriage Pope Francis had even cleared U.S. airspace on his return flight home, our Feckless Fishwrappers were already running that Dissociated Press story about Obama being introduced by Cincinnati Gay Guy James Obergfell at a DemocRAT Party fundraiser in New York, where Obama was pandering to Sodomy Rites Activists, one of his major sources of political and financial support. Obergefell was the plaintiff in Obergefell v. Hodges, the legal case that led the Supreme Court in June to rule narrowly in favor of gay marriage.
Did Obama really claim it’s time for people who are uncomfortable with same-sex marriage “to catch up to the majority of Americans who support such unions.”
But a new poll by the same Dissociated Press is shedding light on the fact that the American public, still by and large a nation identifying as people of faith[iv], is beginning to understand the fuller picture and are starting to respond.
That poll[v]shows support for homosexual marriage is actually declining after the Obergefell decision among Americans, with only 42% supporting SSM, down from 48% in April. Not coincidentally, poll respondents identified protecting the religious liberties of individuals and businesses against gay rights challenges at a 56-39% level of support, and specific support for protection of religious liberties of businesses in marriage-related industries at 59%, up from 52% in the April poll.
The Dissociated Press did mention, however, that earlier this month, Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis spent several days in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples despite a Supreme Court ruling that made same-sex unions legal nationwide. Davis said such marriages violate her Apostolic Christian faith, and since being released Davis has allowed marriage licenses to be issued, but only without her name and title. She also announced that she has left the DemocRAT Party and become a Republican.
Something else our Liberal Obama Same Sex Supporters overlooked: Anti-Same Sex Marriage Pope Francis said on Monday government officials have a “human right” to refuse to discharge a duty, such as issuing marriage licenses to homosexuals, if they feel it violates their conscience.
