Are You Ready For More Hypocrisy?
Bluegrass Bureau Chief Ken CamBoo says what’s left of your Labor Day Weekend is almost over, and Kneepad Liberals in the Press are already camped out in Kentucky so they can start in bright and early on the most important story in the History of the World, Parts One and Two—the jailing of Rowan County DemocRAT Clerk Kim Davis for refusing to issue gay marriage licenses.
Obama’s White House Propaganda Minister Josh Earnest set the Hypocrisy Bar really high when he won Thursday’s “Stupid Liberal Liar Award of Day” outright for claiming “No public official is above the law.” Exceptions to that claim of course included Hillary Clinton, Lois Lerner, the IRS, along with Obama himself, Deceitful DemocRAT Mayors in Sanctuary Cities Everywhere, just to name a few.
And if the Liberal Agenda thought they could declare victory after supposedly Conservative Judge David Bunning brought about contempt for his own court by sending Kim Davis to jail, they just might want to hold off for a while. Because from here it looks like they’re trying to turn that Dumpy DemocRAT County Clerk into a full-fledged martyr, although Joan of Arc is not quite ready to start spinning in her grave just yet. The ACLU only wanted Kim Davis fined. Bunning opened up a real can of worms by sending the woman to jail, especially after Conservatives pointed out the fact that the judge who ordered Kim Davis to be jailed not for breaking the law, but for opposing his unlawful orders, is the same judge behind re-educating (indoctrinating) Kentucky students who opposed sodomy. That judge, a Bush appointee no less, was none other than US District Judge David Bunning. Oh, the Hypocrisy!
Liberals claim Kim Davis “broke the law.” She disobeyed “The Law of the Land.” But actually, the “redefinition of marriage” began 11 years ago with another famous lawbreaker when then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom flaunted the law of the land by ordering those very marriage licenses to be issued to same-sex couples. While Davis is in jail, Newsom, now serving as lieutenant governor of California, is preparing to run for governor of his state. How Hypocritical is it that Sodomy Rites Activists who praised SF Mayor Gavin Newsom for illegally issuing marriage licenses now vilify Kim Davis?
NOTE: “When Gavin Newsom refused to submit to the law in 2004, he was a hero,” writes Brown. “When Kim Davis refuses to submit to the law, she is a bigot and a monster. (And make no mistake about it: His actions were far more flamboyant and aggressive than hers, and whereas as she is a self-professed ‘very private person’ who does not want the spotlight to the point of being overwhelmed and in tears because of the national attention, Newsom actively sought it out.)”
Comparisons about lawbreaking don’t end there. Just last year, Jack Conway, Kentucky’s attorney general, refused to defend the state’s ban on same-sex ‘marriage,’ despite his oath of office, explaining that, ‘Once I reached the conclusion that the law was discriminatory, I could no longer defend it. At that point, being true to myself became more important than the political considerations.’”
Where was the national condemnation of Conway? And where was the national condemnation of then-Attorney General Eric Holder when he instructed attorneys general nationwide that they were not obligated to defend state laws – meaning, specifically, bans on same-sex ‘marriage’ – if they found them to be discriminatory?”
Conservatives ask why Kim Davis was arrested while Judge Tonya Parker seems to have gotten off scot free. That’s because in Parker’s case, performing those ceremonies was not a requirement of her position, and she referred couples to other judges who did perform the ceremony. In Davis’s case, granting marriage licenses is one of her essential duties, and she was preventing her subordinates from granting the licenses instead. The difference is Davis was actively preventing people from getting married, while Parker was simply referring them to someone else who could take care of their request. Davis’ is legally the only county official who can sign those licenses. Judge Bunning offered to let her out of jail if she would allow her deputy clerks to issue licenses, but she still refused.
Mat Staver, one of Davis’ attorneys, said the marriage licenses issued Friday are “not worth the paper they are written on” because Davis refused to authorize them. But Rowan County Attorney Cecil Watkins says those licenses are valid. Bunning said he did not know if the licenses were valid but ordered them issued anyway. “She’s not going to resign,” Staver added, “she’s not going to sacrifice her conscience, so she’s doing what Martin Luther King Jr. wrote about in his Letter from the Birmingham Jail, which is to pay the consequences for her decision.”
Republican Presidential Candidate MIKE HUCKABEE is planning to visit Kim Davis in jail tomorrow before rallying supporters outside the detention center where she is being held, seizing on the issue, setting up a petition on his campaign website calling for Davis’s release that has already drawn more than 55,000 signatures and has called Davis’s case an example of the “criminalization of Christianity in our country.” Citizens for Community Values even sent out this flyer to promote the event.
The Conservative Agenda measured some of the Republican Presidential Candidates’ reactions: TED CRUZ took Judge Bunning to the woodshed. RAND PAUL said, “I Think It’s Absurd To Put Someone In Jail For Exercising Their Religious Liberty.” Less emphatic were BOBBY JINDAL’S “I absolutely do believe people have a First Amendment right, a Constitutional right” and SCOTT WALKER’S “You have the freedom to practice religious beliefs out there.” LINDSEY GRAHAM showed why he deserves Conservative Contempt with “As A Public Official, Comply With The Law Or Resign” and Ohio Governor JOHN KASICH showed why he came in seventh when polled on 2% of the vote in a recent Clermont County Straw Poll with “It’s The Law Of The Land. It’s The Way That America Functions.” Still, The Blower liked Ben Carson’s reaction best.
Political Pundits were all waiting to hear Republican Front-Runner Donald Trump’s reaction, but “the Supreme Court has ruled” and “it’s the law of the land” were not exactly what Values Voters had been hoping for, and we’re now waiting to see how much Trump will suffer in the polls. No wonder Ted Cruz is beating Trump badly in places like Conservative Red Clermont County in Southwest Ohio, but Trump’s lead in the polls overall is less likely to be affected.
Punditry demonstrated its own special brand of Hype-ocrisy during what seems to be an endless Labor Day Weekend. Photo Shop Spoofer Edward Cropper shows us “George Will Comparing Kim Davis to Segregationist George Wallace” and Huckabee Schooling Stephanopoulos on Kim Davis.” You can see more of Mr. Cropper’s work HERE.
Meanwhile, as Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was spending her fifth day behind bars, Local 12 News, Rich Jaffe at Local 12 News shows us a few protesters who undoubtedly called the TV station before they just happened to show up outside the Fort Thomas home of the judge who sent Davis to jail.
