Tomorrow’s Memorial Day, Everybody!

image004image005OUR NUMBER ONE MEMORIAL DAY STORY THIS WEEKEND was when Obama assessed his war on ISIS after the group overtook the key Iraqi city of Ramadi, claiming his strategy against the terrorists isn’t failing. Unfortunately for our Pathetic President and the Disingenuous DemocRATS, only 18% of Americans agree with him.

Hawaii DemocRAT Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard disagreed with PObama’s assessment that the United States-led coalition is not losing to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the Middle East. “Clearly ISIS has gained momentum, in particular over the last week, as we’ve seen the ground that they gained both in Iraq and Syria,” Gabbard said on CNN’s “State of the Union” program.

image007Arizona Republican Senator John McCain said “There is no strategy to defeat ISIS” on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” suggesting more American troops will be needed to defeat the terror group. But Dishonest DemocRAT California Congressman Adam Schiff told host Bob Schieffer the U.S. is “breaking even” against the Murdering Muslims.

Obama’s Defense Secretary Ashton Carter blamed the Iraqi forces, because of their lack of a will to fight, as he resisted Republican-led calls to put more American troops into the Middle East to combat ISIS.

But Former GOP Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said on Sunday that the Obama administration is getting beaten by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). “We are losing, there’s no doubt about it,” Bolton told host Chris Wallace of “Fox News Sunday.”

image012“I think they’ve been in denial about the war on terror for the last six-plus years,” he said of the Obama administration, explaining that Turkey and the Arab states nearby have a huge stake in working with us to destroy ISIS,” but unfortunately, “The Arab states and the Turks can’t do it alone,” “It’s wrong to say, ‘It’s their problem, let them deal with it.,’” “They need American leadership.”

image004Meanwhile in Washington, our DC Newsbreaker says Republican House Speaker John Boehner admitted the Department of Veterans Affairs is no better off a year after former VA Secretary Eric Shinseki resigned in disgrace, despite a new law that overhauled the agency and authorized $16 billion in new spending. Shinseki had stepped down amid a scandal over long wait times for veterans seeking health care and falsified records to cover up the delays. Curiously, Boehner had no words of praise for ex-P&G CEO Robert MacDonald, Obama’s chose to straighten out just another one of Obama’s scandal-plagued departments.

image004image010Good grief! Didn’t our Feckless Fishwrappers know enough to slap a few patriotic pictures on the front page this weekend? Sunday’s front page above the Kroger ad featured a politically correct story about little Black school children in Indianapolis and some whining about why Ohio ignored its own $1 Million public transit study.

image004Somewhat more patriotic, The Blower was making sure all our Persons of Consequence knew about Sunday night’s National Memorial Day Concert on TV featuring riveting performances from some of the world’s biggest stars. In addition, acclaimed actors will present personal stories of love and sacrifice submitted by viewers through the concert’s Virtual Wall of Remembrance.

image012The program is again co-hosted by Joe Mantegna (CRIMINAL MINDS) and Gary Sinise (CSI: NEW YORK), two acclaimed actors who have dedicated themselves to veteran’s causes and supporting our troops. We’re pretty sure Obama is not even scheduled to appear.

One local Gulf War Veteran says if any staffers in local Congressional offices happen to be watching, Memorial Day would be a good time to be thinking about improving your constituency service, especially to veterans.

image004image014Also on Monday at 6:30PM, and 9:30PM, HBO is scheduled to show “Taking Chance,” a 2009 historical drama film based upon the experiences of Marine Lt. Colonel Michael Strobl (Kevin Bacon), who escorts the body of a fallen Marine, PFC Chance Phelps (posthumously promoted to LCpl), back to his hometown from the Iraq War.

If there was ever a movie guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes on Memorial Day, this one ought to do it. You can watch the trailer here.   (You might want to record this one on your DVR.)

image004Finally, Bluegrass Bureau Chief Ken CamBoo says although many patriotic people will be celebrating Memorial Day this weekend, Confederate Memorial Day is officially celebrated in Kentucky on June 3, because Confederate President Jefferson Davis was born on that date in 1808 in Fairview, Kentucky.

For those of you who don’t know where Fairview is, it’s near Hopkinsville, wherever in the hell that is.
