The Obama administration is trying to prevent former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from being deposed in an ongoing open records case connected to her use of a private email server. Late Thursday evening, the Justice Department filed a court motion opposing the Clinton deposition request from conservative legal watchdog Judicial Watch.
DePaul University President Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider issued a statement in response to the recent brouhaha caused by Black Lives Matter protesters shutting down a conservative event featuring Breitbart’s Milo Yiannopoulos, likening them to the D-Day soldiers that stormed the beaches of Normandy and died facing a relentless Nazi army.
The president has asked for a meeting to be organized between the College Republicans and the Black Lives Matter protesters to “reflect on how future events should be staffed so that they proceed without interruption; how protests are to be more effectively assisted and enabled; and how the underlying differences around race, gender and orientation that were made evident in yesterday’s events can be explored in depth in the coming academic year.”
Rep. Rick Allen, Georgia Republican, created quit a stir on Capitol Hill when he pulled out a Bible passage and began reading, as a way of showing fellow Republicans they ought to be ashamed for backing a spending bill that included language upholding a President Obama-backed ban on government contracts absent LGBT equal rights’ protections. Specifically, Allen read a passage about the sin of homosexuality – and his fellow Republicans reportedly responded by walking from the room in disgust.
CNN says a month ago, it seemed that the DemocRATS were sitting pretty. Republicans were in disarray. In contrast, the DemocRATS had themselves an apparently solid nominee. Yet only a few weeks later, the story looks very different. Now it is the DemocRATS who are struggling through some fierce internecine divisions. Sanders’ attacks have intensified in recent weeks. He has raised the volume of his comments about Clinton and charged that the entire nomination process has been problematic and unfair. His supporters have flooded the airwaves to complain about the superdelegates, while Sanders announced he would support DemocRAT National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s primary opponent given her alleged favoritism toward Clinton. Sanders warned that the convention could be “messy,” adding, “Democracy is not always nice and gentle.”
Whistleblower Pollster Ron Rasmussen says Long lines of frustrated passengers at airports around the country have already prompted the removal of a top official at the struggling Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Americans still have a high opinion of airline safety but are definitely more critical of the TSA and airport security.
