Special “Car Theft Alert” E-dition

SATURDAY, JANUARY 6, 2018
Today’s Crime Prevention Tip From The Cincinnati Police Department

On Friday, January 5, 2018, the Cincinnati Police Department received nine reports of stolen cars. None of these cars was occupied by their owners at the time of theft.

Of these nine, four were running to warm up with the keys in the ignition. One was running to warm up via remote start.
Two were not running, but the keys had been left inside and the doors were unlocked.

To put it a different way, there were seven very happy car thieves yesterday.

(And by contrast, there were seven car owners who were decidedly not happy.)

We’re not through this cold spell yet, so please, please, PLEASE don’t warm up your cars by leaving them running and unattended, and don’t leave your keys in your car!

We all like happiness, and we all enjoy making other people happy… maybe just not car thieves.

Stay warm, folks.
