Trump Finally Got Some Good News Yesterday

image004Maybe. His campaign claimed that he raised $3 million from his “emergency” request for money. However, we political junkies are very skeptical because, after all, Trump and his campaign are not particularly well-known for their veracity.

image011It has been found out from FEC filings that Trump’s claim of being self-funded is not exactly true. What is true is that he is somewhat self-financed but that’s not the same thing. The catch is that he has only been “loaning” his campaign money, presumably to be paid back later (to himself) from campaign donations. Also, a good chunk of campaign expenditures goes to his own companies anyway and to pay for the expenses of his family’s travel.

image011Trump’s campaign is supposed to have debt of about $45 million, a lot of which may be owed to Trump himself. When donors find this out, they may be loathe to send him money when they know it’s just going to go right back into his pocket. There’s probably a good many people who have been stiffed by Trump and his many bankruptcies over the years, that hope he ends up eating most of the campaign debt. No doubt Trump will find a way to take any losses from the campaign off his personal taxes, which we will never know anything about. Trump will not release any past tax information so you can bet that he won’t release anything in the future. Of course, there is also the possibility that one or more of his corporations will end up footing the bill, to the anguish of any stockholders.

image011Yesterday, there was a big article in the Washington Post about one of his golf courses in Scotland, which has been a financial disaster, and how the community around there hates him. Following a pattern, Trump claims it is a great success, while at the same time, telling the tax authorities in Scotland that he is losing lots of money. So, add a failing golf course in Scotland to his Miss Universe Pageant in summarizing his foreign policy experience.

image011Also yesterday, Trump said that Hillary is a world-class liar and also is the most corrupt person ever to run for president. Upon hearing that, Warren G. Harding (R., Ohio) turned over in his grave, grumbling that he thought his record would stand unchallenged forever.

image011Trump went on to attack Hillary on her religion and anything else he could think of. For a guy who never goes to church and who has personally profited while bankrupting his companies, this seems to be a classic case of a person living in a glass house throwing rocks. As they say, “the best defense is a good offense,” and some people would say few politicians are more offensive than The Donald.

image011The biggest news is today’s Brexit vote in the U.K. This is to determine whether the U.K. stays in the European Union or goes it alone. Every world leader and almost every economist thinks they should stay in because leaving would be an economic disaster for them, which is sure to have global effects. However, one would-be world leader (DT) thinks they should get out. This is in keeping with his philosophy that he knows more about everything than the experts. The media says the vote is too close to call, but the bookies think they will stay in. Bookies are usually right but we should know in a matter of hours because the UK is many hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Saving Time.

image011Now Ladies and Germans, Lefties, Righties, Republicans, DemocRATS, Libertarians, Independents, Greens and Apathetics; The British have a response to Donald Trump’s meddling in their affairs. This is an exclusive, ahead of any official announcement: Turn your speakers on and listen to the Anthem of Europe:

image011Of course, Trump’s meddling was not all of it, because there was the little matter of the economic aspect of Trump’s recommendation. The bookies knew the answer first, followed by the stock markets. Whistleblower Business Editor Merrill Forbes says the British Pound is up 1.1 percent today and The Dow is up 230 points, so they were betting against Trump too. Just Remember, you heard it here first.image003image007
