TODAY’S REALLY BIG STORY

image004Following The Blower’s “Currency Update” yesterday, Donald Trump courted a new round of controversy on Thursday morning, describing as “pure political correctness” a Treasury Department decision to make the black anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman the new face of America’s $20 bill. Lib Rag Slate was already debating which “white guy” should be taken off currency to make room for Obama, and Fox News host Greta Van Susteren unloaded on the Treasury Department’s decision, calling it another example of the White House going “stupid for no reason” and dividing the country.image017

STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICE REMOVED HILLARY’S BENGHAZI FILES AFTER CONGRESSIONAL SUBPOENA
Release of records delayed over a year due to removal

image006Washington Free Beacon reports State Department officials removed files from the secretary’s office related to the Benghazi attack in Libya and transferred them to another department after receiving a congressional subpoena last spring, delaying the release of the records to Congress for over a year. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.), chairman of the Benghazi Committee, said in an April 8 statement it was “deplorable that it took over a year for these records to be produced to our committee.” “This investigation is about a terrorist attack that killed four Americans, and it could have been completed a lot sooner if the administration had not delayed and delayed and delayed at every turn,” Gowdy said. ALL THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES MADE IT ON TIME 100, EXCEPT KASICH

image007TIME doesn’t seem to consider Delusional Ohio Governor John Kasich influential this year. The magazine released its annual list of the 100 most influential people on Thursday, and honorees include world leaders, politicians, artists and more. This year’s TIME list included all the remaining presidential candidates, except for Kasich. See what other politicians and commentators had to say about the four other candidates who were deemed influential leaders this year. image017

PAUL RYAN CLAIMS, “I’M NO JOHN BOEHNER”

image009“I think I do it better,” the House speaker told CNN during an interview this week, adding that his leadership style is different than his predecessor, whose resignation last year shocked Washington. “Not to knock John, but I spend more time with all of our members on a continual basis.”Ryan, the GOP’s vice presidential nominee in 2012, has won over conservatives by trying to showcase a more inclusive leadership style than Boehner. But he’s still beset by the same internal divisions that led to Boehner’s ouster — as his party struggles to push through a number of bills on pressing matters, ranging from the Puerto Rico debt crisis to the budget. image017

TRUMP CLARIFIES TRANSGENDER REMARKS ON HANNITY

image010After being quoted earlier today saying “Grown Men In Drag Should Be Allowed To Pee In The Same Bathrooms Used By Little Girls If They Want To…” in Weasel Zippers, Trump was interviewed by Sean Hannity tonight who asked him to clarify his remarks about the NC transgender law. Trump basically said NC is feeling the pinch of a boycott and that’s too bad. Hannity asked him how he thought the issue should be settled. Trump said it was a local issue and the Federal courts should never get involved. That’s all he said about it. Hannity didn’t ask him did he personally think “drag queens should be allowed in whatever bathroom they want to use.” But we did hear a spokesman for Trump say today in the Matt Lauer interview he was referring to someone who went to court and had their sex changed on legal documents, as in after they have a sex change. I would suspect Trump (shown with Bruce “Call Me Caitlyn” Jenner) will clarify what he meant in the NBC interview in a statement.image017

RNC PUNTS ON RULE CHANGES

image011The Republican National Committee’s rules committee on Thursday chose to punt on changing rules for how a presidential nominee is chosen in a contested convention. In avoiding a high-profile battle to simplify the rules, the committee rallied behind chairman Reince Priebus’s repeated insistence that no changes should be made before the July convention. The committee adjourned just one hour after it began without making any changes, including one that could have made it more difficult for party leaders to nominate a “white knight” candidate — someone not currently in the race who could take on Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. Committee members repeatedly warned against provoking the ire of the voters by suggesting rules changes just months before Republicans meet for the convention in Cleveland.image017

TODAY’S “STUPID LIBERAL LIAR” AWARD GOES TO

The Washington Post’s Max Ehrenfreund, who wrote “Cash is going to become more representative of the Americans who are more likely to depend on it, now that the faces of several black icons are set to appear on U.S. paper currency.” Have you ever heard such a load crap in your life?image013image017
